Chapter2 was created by Michael Pryde, inspired by his years of dedication to design and cycling.
We set out to premiumise the experience of unboxing when receiving one of these specialised frames. They are made to order so the box needed to match the excitement of the initial speccing up and purchase.
More often than not, the first chapter after a bike's production would be to bundle it into a brown box that's rectangular and plain in form - but this is Chapter2. As the frame has no real 90 degree features we decided to chamfer the corners, matching the frames shape and creating an ownable point of difference for this product.
A key consideration in the design was that the box was required to hold either a small, medium or large frame - to keep things common, reducing tooling and production costs. The starting point was the insert: All the frames were tested with a trial & error process; Cutting, testing, developing and making edits/improvements where necessary until the balance of fit, form and function was met. Designing neat and simple wrap around fittings to stop any part touching was the key to keeping beautiful clean lines, with a technically advanced/modern feel, using the bike's own angles to its advantage.
The entire package is created from 3mm B-Flute corrugated, for its lightweight, yet strong and durable features.
